Participants in round six of the LACC Series had doubts about the conditions, as a light rain came down the day before the event. Luckily, the skies cleared enough Saturday night and Sunday Morning, making for nice ground conditions for Sunday’s 11 a.m. main event. The large crowd was excited to see 18-year-old GNCC Pro rider Morgan Moss (below left), who’s recovering from injury, face off against two-time World Motocross Champion Trampas Parker, multiple-time Arkansas Hare Scrambles Champion Bryan Vaughan (below right), defending LACC champion Stephen Reed, and many other top racers from several southern states.
Starting things off was the XC1 class. Hutchinson’s ATV Repair-backed Kawasaki jockey Kevin Hutchinson grabbed one of his trademark holeshots and kept the lead for almost the entire first lap. Monster/Pro Circuit/Andrews Yamaha/O’Neal/EKS Brand-backed Moss and TCP MX Schools/KTM/Fly’s Parker worked their way up to the front and started putting a gap on the field.
Parker impressively cleared both the KTM Spool Jump and the Chuck’s Used Appliance Tire Jump. During the next lap, Moss was able to make his way past Parker and then start building a cushion. Midway through the race, Moss took a nasty spill on the Tire Jump, but he managed to shake it off and continue on for the overall win – and the majority of the $500 purse. Parker cruised in for second. Scott Equipment/Adrenaline Motorsports/Hutchinson’s ATV-backed KTM rider Andy Beebe and Warren Drilling/Rekluse/House of Horsepower’s Bryan Vaughan, also on a KTM, had a very exciting battle for the final podium position. While finishing only seconds apart after the 1.5-hour race, Vaughan ended up earning the third-place position and was able to take home some cash.
ISDE vet Manny Garza made the drive over from Spring, Texas, with family and friends, and rode his Honda to an impressive first place in the XC2 Expert Lites class. As usual, Moose/FMF-backed KTM rider Jason Reine and Performance Cycles KTM/Chuck’s Used Appliance-sponsored Ryan Breaux (below) battled hard. This time, Reine landed second and Breaux was third.
The event staff and spectators were happy to see young Morgan Moss make his mark at Spring Hill Plantation and on the LACC Series! As usual, pictures, videos and more can be found at www.AcadianaRacing.com!
