Southern California Flat Track Association
Perris Raceway

By Elliott Iverson
PERRIS, CA, AUG. 15, 2011

This Saturday, August 20, will be the eighth round of 12 during the 2011 Southern California Flat Track Association season. Gates will open at 1 p.m. and practice begins at 5, with racing to follow. Spectator entry fee is $10, but admission for children 4 and under is free. The snack bar will be open, offering a full range of treats, or bring your own. However, no glass bottles, please.

Even though the season is far from over, there are still some tight races on several classes. Only seven points separate first from fourth in the 50cc class, the top riders being Travis Petton, Ava Bush, Toby D’Arignon and Courtney D’Arignon. In the 250cc Vintage class, leaders Jim Wood and John Kocinski are only five points apart. Meanwhile, Vet (Over 35) riders Joel Kath, a recovering Jim Rosa, and John Lundgren have eight points between them, and 750cc Vintage Twins racers Jeff Apple and Jim Ottele are separated by just a single point. And although some of the other classes may look like runaways, there are still five races to go, and almost anything can happen!
