PEORIA, IL, JUNE 17, 2012
On June 17, the Weirbach racing team traveled to Peoria, Illinois, for my first-ever Peoria TT.
After the first practice out on this track, I realized it was like nothing I had ever ridden before. Luckily, the track officials gave us two rounds of practice, so I was able to get comfortable on the track.
In the first heat race, I grabbed an awesome holeshot and led most of the race, but I made a small mistake in turn one and was passed. I ended up second.
We made some greatly needed suspension changes before the main event, and immediately after the start of the race, I noticed a big difference. I worked my way up to third in the main but got passed down the front stretch and ended up fourth.
We’d decided to run our stock bikes this day to make me work harder and get more comfortable on the track. Overall, this was a great first experience on this track. Now I’m really looking forward to the Grand National here in August.
Up until the next few Nationals, I am constantly training and riding, preparing for Lima next weekend. Of course, we couldn’t do all this without all our great sponsors: Weirbach Racing, General Engineering, Barnett, Spectro, DynoJet, K&N, Saddlemen, Superstores.com, White Lightning Retrievers, PMP Sprockets, Motion Pro, Spider Grips, Evans Coolant, Cheney Engineering, G2 Ergonomics, Works Connection, All Balls Racing, Firecoat Custom Powderworks, CP Pistons & Carrillo Rods, Web cams, Foudree’s Graphics, Sunoco, Pro Wheel, Durelle Racing, Supertrapp, TNT Honda, Pingel Products, Regina Chain, Factory Backing, Hinson, MotoBatt, Pit Posse, Jet-Hot, Bell Helmets, Cometic Gaskets, Pro Factory, Rekluse, Chicken Hawk, Bell, Five Star Washer Service, RLJ Racing, Precision Power, FMF, Vortex, Fassdass, and JR43.
