The 2014 AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, Series has featured incredible racing through its first three rounds of competition, producing three different winners in five nights of action. One of the riders who has emerged as a formidable contender, thanks to a pair of main-event wins and a best overall finish of third, is Road to Supercross competitor Jacob Hayes.

This weekend, the championship will complete the first quarter of the 2014 season by visiting Greensboro, North Carolina, for the first time since 2009 for the fourth round of the championship on Saturday night at the Greensboro Coliseum. Having grown up in nearby Liberty, Hayes calls Greensboro home, and his anticipated homecoming is generating a lot of excitement, as victory is within reach for the 20-year-old rider.

Hayes is just one of several riders this season who have put the Road to Supercross program into the spotlight. He and his fellow up-and-coming riders such as Aaron Plessinger, Keith Tucker and Colt Nichols have shown no intimidation regarding their more-experienced counterparts and, as a result, they have achieved success in the early part of the season.

Thanks to the confidence in his ability to run at the front of the field and battle for wins, Hayes’ accomplishments currently have him sitting fifth in the Arenacross-class standings, just 24 points out of the lead. With five rounds remaining until the Race to the Championship, Hayes is in a great position to make a run at a potential title in his first season of AMSOIL Arenacross competition.

Check out the video below to see what Jacob Hayes thinks of his season so far, following his fifth-place-overall finish last weekend in Louisville, Kentucky.
