Hurd Motorsports, promoters of the world-class Broome-Tioga Sports Center facility, hosted the fourth round of their Winter Mud and Snow Scrambles Series. The series consists of nine rounds running from November through April, utilizing the multiple motocross tracks, grass-track and single-track trails of this massive facility. This unique and challenging series continues grow and has been drawing new racers but also continues to attract some of the most experienced and talented off-road riders from Upstate New York and beyond.

Glen Davis (31), Tim Myers (859), Rich Bristol (behind Davis) and John Messina (477) lead the start of the Over 50 motorcycle scrambles at round four of the Broome-Tioga Winter Mud and Snow Scrambles Series.

Race day dawned under overcast skies and in frigid temperatures as the polar vortex continued its grip on Upstate New York and most of the Eastern Seaboard. Mother Nature also decided to bring snow to the area, dropping several inches of fresh powder onto the racecourse. The new snow, combined with the frigid temperatures, made the racecourse slick and icy everywhere. A biting wind also had racers doing all they could to keep their extremities from freezing. Any exposed skin could be subject to a bout of frostbite if extreme care wasn’t taken. The racecourse’s direction of travel was reversed for this round, which added yet another challenge for the racers.

Glen Davis (31) led every lap and took the win, virtually uncontested, in the Over 50 motorcycle scrambles.
