Hurd Motorsports, promoters of the world-class Broome-Tioga Sports Center facility, hosted the seventh round of the Winter Mud and Snow Scrambles Series. The racing has been excellent at all seven rounds, and though the series has begun to wind down, with only two rounds remaining, it still continues to grow, attracting new racers as well as some of the most experienced and talented off-road riders from Upstate New York and beyond.

Race day dawned under partly sunny but mostly overcast skies and with slightly warmer temperatures. The projected high for the day was 40 degrees, but that mark had been slightly surpassed by early afternoon.

Track conditions proved to be challenging, as most of the racecourse started out frozen but quickly began to thaw as the race program progressed. By early afternoon, mud and visibility became the most apparent challenge for racers, especially following the upper woods section, where riders became soaked with muddy roost, making them virtually impossible to identify.
