CA, JULY 19, 2014
While CFTA racing is on vacation during the heat of July, AMA Pro Racing has arrived at the West Coast. We hope that the California racing community comes out in droves and supports these events.
This was almost the race that wasn’t: The Sacramento Mile was canceled earlier this year due to the promoter’s inability to reach suitable financial terms with the management of the Cal Expo Fairgrounds. Just when we thought that the Sacramento Mile was doomed to the history books, a new light flickered.
Former road racer Steve McLaughlin entered the scene, reached an agreement with the Fairgrounds, and the race was back on again! In addition to all of race excitement, this year, legends Chris Carr and Jay Springsteen are going to have an exhibition race called the “Cal Expo Clash.”
The California Pros support CFTA, and now we need to support them.
Tickets can be purchased online at secure.interactiveticketing.com/a/c84136 or by calling 844/SAC-MILE (844/722-6453) or by visiting the Cal Expo ticket box office in the Administration Building at 1600 Exposition Boulevard, Sacramento, California 95815, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday. Tickets can also be purchased at any ticket window during the 2014 California State Fair.
Speaking of wonderful race tracks that have slipped away, let’s talk about the Calistoga Half-Mile. Everyone who attended the Calistoga races in 2010 and 2011 has raved about them ever since. People just loved that they had such great sightlines and a blindingly fast track, and the setting is just stunning.
Well, the Calistoga Half-Mile is on for 2014. Steve De Lorenzi, Terry Otton and Eddie Mulder have teamed up to bring GNC racing back to this fabulous venue.
In 2013, the facility underwent substantial renovation, including a new clay surface, laser-graded to perfection. Expect to hear much more about this event in the coming months leading up to the event.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.flattrackcalistoga.com/tickets.php. This venue holds only a limited number of people, so make sure to get your tickets early, especially if you are looking to purchase Premier seats.
Atwater Motorcycle Flat Track Race
We have a new race venue in California, and the CFTA is going there. We are partnering with Sean Jackson and Brok McAllister for a three-day event called “Moto Mania,” August 15 through 17, at the Tom Dash Speedway, located at 500 Industry Way in Atwater, California 95301.
On Friday, there will be a Supermoto Racer School. Saturday morning will feature Asphalt Motard and Karts events, while Saturday afternoon will be for Dirt Flat Track Motorcycles and Karts. Sunday will be all about Supermoto USA.
The CFTA is running the flat-track portion of this event. This is not a CFTA series race, but rather an exhibition event to provide more venues and races to our riders and fans.
Classes will include Pee Wee, 65cc, 85cc, 250cc, Open, Open Pro (with 100-percent payback), Vintage, Vet (Over 35) and Quad. (Still debating that last one; you guys want to come?)
We’ll post more information soon on our website and Facebook page.
CFTA Cushion Racing This Fall
That’s right, you read that correctly. We have heard you loud and clear, and you want cushion racing! Sorry, but no details yet, as we want to firm up some things before we go public.
