Ramspur Winery Calistoga Half-Mile presented by Victory Chevrolet

CALISTOGA, CA, AUG. 23, 2014
As this reporter is typing these words, the AMA Pro Racing Flat Track riders are preparing for the second annual Virginia Mega Mile at Colonial Downs as this is being typed. The top three Grand National riders – Jared “Mr. Consistency” Mees, “Flyin’ Bryan” Smith and “Jersey Jake” Johnson – are separated by only 14 points. With one more race, the legendary Springfield Mile, between the Mega Mile and Calistoga, the boys will be coming into town in a close and competitive points chase.
To add to the already outrageously exciting Calistoga competition, there will also be the excitement of the competition-within-the-competition between two of the event’s co-promoters’ riders, Ramspur Winery-backed Jake Johnson (who is also sponsored by Lloyd Brothers Motorsports) and SDI Insulation-backed Jared Mees (who is also sponsored by Roger’s Racing). Mees is currently in the top spot, with 204 Grand National points going into the Virginia Mega Mile, 14 points in front of Johnson. Smith is sandwiched nine points behind Mees and five points ahead of Johnson.
There is much to be determined in the next two races before the riders roll into the beautiful Napa Valley wine country and Calistoga, California. The genius with dirt, Dennis Pearson, will prepare what is expected to be a near-perfect racing surface, much the same as was done at the last Calistoga Half Mile AMA Pro Racing competition back in 2011.
Promoters of the Ramspur Winery Calistoga Half Mile include Chris Morgan, who is a well-recognized promoter of both four-wheel and two-wheel racing events, including the Pomona Half Mile Flat Track Finals in Southern California. The Law Tigers AMA Pro Pomona Flat Track Finals will be held October 11 at the famous Pomona Fairplex. The final race in the 2014 AMA Pro Racing Series will crown the series champion and may be the event that decides who will earn the Tony Duma AMA Pro Racing Daytona Flat Track Rolex and the $1,000 Cortech Edge Award that will go to the Grand National rider who turns the fastest lap time at the most events. Mees is also currently leading that challenge.
An LLC has been developed for another group of co-promoters of the Calistoga Half Mile, called the “Trifecta LLC.” Included in the Trifecta are Terry Otton of Ramspur Winery, Steve DeLorenzi of SDI Insulation, and Eddie and Jodi Mulder of the West Coast Dirt Track Series.
Terry Otton of Ramspur Winery, the title sponsor of the Ramspur Winery Calistoga Half Mile, presented by Victory Chevrolet, is located in Napa, California, and is offering a 15-percent fan discount when ordering from their website on line with the discount code RWCH. The www.ramspurwinery.com offer expires September 27, 2014. If you are seeking some very fine wine, check out the Ramspur Winery selection online – or better yet, in person!
SDI Insulation is a leader in the insulation-installation industry. It is located in Burlingame, California, and serves communities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, including the Napa Valley. SDI Insulation has been in the insulation industry for more than 35 years, and their crews possess vast knowledge of residential and commercial insulation and specialized insulation equipment. They work efficiently as a team, and they take pride in their installations. From the first call to the office for an appointment to the estimator to the last walk-through at a project’s completion, the SDI family does not just consider your project “a job” – it’s their job. Please visit their website at www.sdi-insulation.com and give them a call when you are in need of insulation.
Eddie and Jodi Mulder comprise the third leg of the Trifecta. Working as a team, the Mulders put together some of the best non-AMA-sanctioned racing in California. October 4 and 5 will be the final race of the 2014 West Coast Dirt Track Series at the Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California. The purses for both days will be larger than any they have ever paid. Eddie’s heart belongs to racing (and to Jodi, of course). He is passionate about helping the AMA Pro Racing Grand National Flat Track riders to meet their budgets with his purses. With the generous sponsorship of Ramspur Winery, Digger Helm, and the Zimmermans of Specialty Fabrications, as well as Rod Lake, Triumph, Coventry Spares, and many more, Eddie’s events always include gifts and cash, medals or plaques, and recognition of the riders and series sponsors.
