After a long summer break, the GNCC Grand National Cross Country Series was back in action this past weekend for round 10 at the infamous Unadilla Raceway in New Berlin, New York. Team UXC Racing spent the summer break training, testing and working hard to fine-tune the Polaris Scrambler 850 EPS, and they were excited to showcase their hard work on the track.

Michael Swift gave Polaris its first Pro 4x4 ATV-class win at round 10 of the GNCC Series.

Team members Michael Swift (contesting the Pro 4×4 class) and Don Higbee (in the Over 40 4×4 class) were among the more than 400 riders in the morning race. When the green flag dropped, Swift found himself in sixth position off the starting line but shortly fell back to seventh after a failed pass attempt.

The second lap of the race was much better for Swift, as he passed four contenders in the Pro 4×4 class. With the “2” card showing through the finish line, Swift knew he had to ride smart in order to catch the leaders. With more than 400 riders on the track, he knew it would be no easy feat.

On the motocross track, with only five miles to the checkered flag, Swift lost his muffler due to overjumping a single, resulting in a hard landing.

“I lost my muffler while on the motocross track, trying to see how far the Polaris Scrambler 850 would fly!” he explained. “The only good thing about that was, I had lost my voice from yelling at all the lapped-traffic riders, and now the Scrambler was so loud, it was scaring the lappers off the track before I could even get to them!”

Swift kept his composure and made a pass with only three miles to go to the finish. On the Team UXC/ Polaris Factory number-209 machine, he took the Pro 4×4-class win while landing a second-overall finish out of 425 racers.

Likewise, Swift made history by giving Polaris its first Pro 4×4 ATV-class win.

“I cannot put into words how I feel right now,” he said. “It was a great day out there, and I had a blast racing the Polaris Scrambler 850 EPS! All of our hard work and countless hours are starting to pay off. I want to thank my family, Polaris, our sponsors, and all the people that have helped, supported and stood beside me. I only plan to grow on this win and produce more results for our team and sponsors.”

Team UXC/ Driven PowerSports racer Don Higbee took a podium finish in the Over 40 4×4 class. Higbee left the starting line in second place, and the top three riders battled back and forth the entire race. Higbee was edged out just before the finish line and took the third-place finish and 37th overall.

“Michael Swift had the Polaris Scrambler 850 EPS set up perfectly for me when I arrived [from] the long trek from Wyoming,” said Higbee. “The Custom Axis shocks were dialed, and I ran with the leaders in my class all day. I appreciate the support Polaris and the rest of our sponsors have given us this year.”

In other racing news, Team UXC Racing’s Chris Robinson competed in the sixth round of the TORN (Texas Off-Road National) Series this past weekend. Robinson finished with an impressive second place on his Polaris Scrambler 1000 EPS. Greenville, Texas, will be the host for round seven of the TORN Series. Robinson will be on hand to defend his title.
