“Racing for the Cause” was the theme of this CALVMX event, as racers put forth a fine effort to raise some money for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer from a special flat-track event. Both guys and girls wore pink shirts, hats and even goggles (as you will see in the pictures) to raise awareness about the disease. Winners were presented with a special medal to remind one of this meaningful event.

Classes included Vintage to Modern support races. The Marty Tripes 100cc Fair Weather Series kicked off with its first round, along with the Noleen 125cc Challenge and Three-Wheeler racing.

This annual event supports one of the very best causes.

“Let it rain, let it rain!” cried out Penny Shidner (55) and Lori Payne (58) before the start of the flat-track race. Yes, some water on the track is a good thing, but it was better for Penny and Lori than it was for “Rock N Robin” Lee (23W/11), who had smooth dirt-track tires on her bike.

Robin Lee (11) had just bought this flat-track bike from Rudy Gil, and it is quite a bike! Due to the extra watering, Robin ended up in a power slide through the turns.

This is about as close as two riders can get. Husky rider Bill Silverthorn (10P) had a hard time shaking off the thundering Triumph that belonged to Tom Harper (16).

Tom Harper (16) had the coolest bike on the track this day. Tom is a stuntman; look for him in the credits in such films as Captain American: The Winter Soldier and Horrible Bosses.
