The CFTA Awards Banquet
A very sincere “thanks!” to everyone who attended. This was only our second year, and with your enthusiastic participation, it exceeded our expectations. We had 154 attendees, up from 87 last year. We are already planning on next year’s Moto Weekend, to be held February 5 and 6, 2016.

Jethro Halbert Silent Auction
As everyone knows by now, the Jethro Halbert Silent Auction was an amazing success. More than a hundred items were donated, and we received commitments of $5,000 in cash.

Thanks to everyone for their patience as we work through the shipping and distribution chores. I have a car full of merchandise to hand out this next weekend.

AMA Flat Track Rookie Class of ’79 and Friends
The CFTA had the pleasure of meeting and working with the people who run this great charity. Behind the scenes of Jethro’s Silent Auction, we were working together on a daily basis. These folks are a major part of the reason that the auction went nationwide. A special hats-off to Chas Roberts and especially Tammi Richmond for the time, energy and passion they put into making the auction a success.

The AMA Pro Flat Track Rookie Class of ’79’s Wayne Rainey, Charlie Roberts, Tommy Duma, Ronnie Jones, Scott Parker, Jackie Mitchell, Lance Jones and their friends work tirelessly to raise funds to help injured AMA Pro Flat Track riders and their families.

The CFTA will be partnering with the Rookie Class of ’79 this year, so expect to see more collaborative fundraising in the future.

This Sunday: Feel Like a Pro Action!
First, thanks to everyone who attended the Feel Like a Pro Dirt Race camp during the Moto Weekend. Some 26 riders attended and enjoyed a full day of hands-on instruction.

This is only the beginning of our partnership with Brian Bartlow’s organization. We are deep into the process of making plans for additional camps and other exciting activities this year. Stay tuned – but for now, check this out…

2015 AMA/CFTA California Flat Track Championship Series
Stay tuned as we finalize our 2015 schedule. We promise it will be worth the wait. It will be an eight- to 10-race series on the following surfaces:

* 1/8 Mile Indoor Cushion
* 1/8 Mile Groove
* 1/8 Mile Outdoor Cushion
* 1/5 Mile Banked Groove Track
* 1/3 Mile Banked Groove Track

And yes, we are looking at a couple of larger car tracks, a cushion TT, and maybe a half-mile TT.

We will have a substantial Pro purse, and this year we’re going to have a purse in the Expert Vintage class, too. We are exploring the creation of a Modern Vintage class for Rotaxes, ATKs, etc. Tell me what you think about that idea.

Rules: As an AMA-sanctioned series, it will by run under the AMA rulebook. You can download a copy at www.americanmotorcyclist.com/racing/rules.

Rider Advancement: The CFTA has worked with the AMA on a rider-advancement system. CFTA rider classifications are recognized by the AMA and DMG.

Schedule details will be revealed soon, we promise. Thinking big takes time.
