Race Report by Braydon Bland, First Overall, Supermini
Saturday was the drive to California for round two of the NHHA [Youth] Series. We arrived at the pits in Barstow with enough time left in the day to unload the bikes and test a bit. When we finished, we loaded back up and headed out. We had a delicious dinner with Ricky Brabec and his crew, the Barnes and the Adams. Then, back to the hotel to get ready for the next day.

Sunday morning we left really early, just as the sun was coming up. I wanted what I thought was a promising line at the start. As it was getting closer to the banner going up, I went and practiced my starts and warmed up my bike.

Then it was time to race! The banner went up and we all shut our bikes off. The banner dropped and my bike fired right up and I got the jump on everyone. I tried to gain as much time as I could off the start. After halfway into the course, I was loving it and was really feeling it.

After check by check, I made it into the pits. I slowly made my way through the pits and pinned it out.

I then again thought it was the best course ever, for how gnarly and sketchy it was. As the race went on, I started to get my groove more and more and more.

By the end of the race, I could not have been any happier, and I only had a few minor mistakes. It was a great course! It was fun and technical, and I would like to thank the Checkers MC Club for a super-fun race.
