Race Report by Cole Timboe, Pee Wee Winner
On Friday, I went to school for half of the day. My dad came to pick me up and we went up to Barstow to meet up with Chris [Blais]. We helped him set up a few things and then we got ready to ride. I got my gear on and I jumped on my bike, but it was blobbing pretty bad. [Dad’s translation: bogging.] Chris and my dad worked on my bike and it started working good. I rode a little turn track for a while and then went on a ride with my dad and then Skyler [Howes] showed up. After that, we went home and met my mom and sister at our favorite Mexican food place.

On Saturday morning, I wanted to go out to LACR [Los Angeles County Raceway in Palmdale, California] to practice because all of my friends were there, but we decided not to go because it was really windy and cold. We decided to go to Milestone [MX Park in Riverside, California] instead. I rode the Vet track.

About a half-hour after we got to Milestone, I crashed pretty hard. I sat down and my dad came over and took my bike off the track for me. I hurt my chin a little, but my Flexx bars’ pad saved my chin from really getting hurt.

After Milestone, we left and headed up to my friend Ries’ house. We rode his PW in his front yard. We ate tacos and watched Supercross that night. After that, we drove up to our hotel in Barstow.

The next morning was race day! I ate breakfast and my dad and I headed over to the race. My dad went to sign-ups and I got to go watch the start of the Superminis and the girls’ start. Braydon [Bland] got the holeshot, and I was super pumped for him! He ended up winning his race, which was awesome!

We came back to camp and I got my gear on and warmed up a little bit. When I rode over to the start, I got my bike in a good spot on the line.

When the banner dropped, I got my bike started in two kicks. I was in fourth off the line because another kid took my line, but I passed second and third and got into second, right behind Andrew [Schulz].

We got to the first check, and there was a little rock jump that I hit, and it was fun. The rocky uphills and downhills were pretty fun.

On the second loop, I was in first place, but I went down in the sand. Andrew ran into me while I was down and then he passed me, so I was back in second again.

I was sitting in second until midway through the third loop. I was able to pass into first in the third loop, in the rocks after the big downhill. I came come through the pits in first on the white-flag [lap]. I got a decent lead on him but I got stuck behind some of my friends, and the trail was skinny, so I couldn’t get around. My friend slid out in the rocks and I was able to pass him and hang on to the lead.

I ended up in first place! I felt so good coming into the checkered flag. The bike Chris put together for me worked awesome, and I think it really helped me to ride my best.

I would like to thank Blais Racing, Chris for the awesome setup of my bike, Fasst Co., IMS, TLD, FMF, VonZipper, Maxilube, and Erek Kudla for an awesome race. I also want to thank my dad for my bike, my mom, my brother and sister, and also my grammy and papa and my pop pop for coming out and cheering me on. Also, thank you to Steve, Brad and Derek for all of their help this weekend.

I’m really excited for round three in Idaho! I’ve won this race the last two years and I can’t wait to get back up there on my SXS.
