PALATKA, FL, MAR. 7-8, 2015
Round one of the Grand National Cross Country Series was held at the 6,000- acre Rodman Plantation, located in north central Florida, near the town of Palatka. The soil here consisted of sand and a black-clay mix. The last time the GNCC raced here was back in 2003.
After Jordan Ashburn got the holeshot, Kailub Russell wasted no time taking the lead. Russell charged out into the point position after getting through the first two mud bogs with no trouble.
After the first lap, it was Russell with a comfortable lead, followed by Josh Strang and Thad Duvall. Chris Bach was in fifth, but he passed Ryan Sipes and Duvall for third.
Strang would hold on to second, and Bach would complete the podium, with Duvall right on Bach’s rear fender on the final lap.
Kevin Rookstool, who’d competed in EnduroCross on Friday and Supercross on Saturday, had a good start and ran in the top 10 for the first three laps, but he would finish in 14th.
Nick Davis won the XC2 class, finishing sixth overall.
