Race Report by Brendan Crow, Heavyweight A/Open A
In the week leading up to the Big 6 Glen Helen race, the forecast predicted rain, which meant it could be an interesting Saturday at the races. My dad and I loaded up Saturday morning and went on a search for a new bike instead of heading to the track for the Unclassified [practice session]. The race was not scheduled until 2:30 p.m., which allowed us plenty of time to shop. We showed up to the track with a new bike (super excited!), although I wouldn’t race on it yet.

The race was delayed significantly, which left me worried about the sunlight, as we neared sunset. Thinking ahead, I was able to prep several sets of X Brand goggles (with the help of my wonderful girlfriend), so I would have perfect vision.

This GP utilized the start gate, which was an interesting and welcomed change. I felt confident and was excited to have amazing race conditions.

Brendan Crow (H192) ended up as runner-up in the Heavyweight A class at the second round of the Big 6 Grand Prix Series.

I had a bad jump off the concrete pad (operator error), but I held my powerful 300cc’s throttle to the stop all the way to the first corner. This put me near the front, although not nearly as far up as I would have liked. The course headed off the motocross track and into the off-road section quickly, and I fought for positions, knowing the first lap is critical. I felt strong and was really enjoying the course. I put my head down and was ready to battle for an hour and a half. I had a ton of fun swapping positions and hunting down riders in front of me throughout the race, and I really enjoyed being on the bike. I am happy with my ride, and I earned a second place in the Heavyweight A class!

So far I have been on the podium at every WCGP this year and I am excited to remain consistent. I am looking to put this momentum into the Nationals, as we head to Idaho in a few weeks, and get a result I feel I’ve been lacking in that series.
