Race Report by Braydon Bland, First Overall Amateur
Early on Saturday morning, my parents and I, Skyler [Howes], Kadin [Guard] and Troy [Guard] all left for the race. We arrived, and it was a little chilly. I watched the minis and then got dressed.

I had a good line picked out, and then we all waited for the race to start. I watched the first two rows take off, and the track was dusty. I knew I needed a first-kick start in hopes of getting the holeshot as well.

The flag went up, and I got a good jump but was about fifth or sixth into the first turn and moved into second just after the second turn. I stayed there and had first in my sights for the whole loop!

We approached a downhill off of a waterfall – I could see a line behind him, first-place Amateur, but he was stopped and I thought this could be my pass around him. I tried to go up and over the line and fell into another rider. First got away as the guy and I untangled our attached bikes. After I got up and going, I could still see him in my sights.

On the second loop around, he had gained more time on me.

On the third loop around, about halfway through, he had made a mistake. I made my way around him and pushed really hard to stay out front.

I rode flawlessly my whole race, with just one minor little tip-over, and managed to get the first-place Amateur overall win and 19th overall big-bike!
