Race Report by Braydon Bland, First Overall Supermini
On Friday, my parents and I headed up to Idaho for the third round of the NHHA Series. We stopped by Rekluse Motorsports that afternoon to get a tour of their place. After that, before heading out to the pits, we had dinner. When we arrived at the pits, I immediately jumped out of the truck and went to walk the start line. There were multiple lines, but they were all sketchy.
The next morning, the Pee Wees were the first race, and I watched my teammate Cole [Timboe] have a solid race. Then I went and got dressed for my race.
After the riders’ meeting, we got back to our bikes and were ready! Just a few minutes later, the banner went up and we watched the hare take off.
The banner dropped, and my Blais Racing KTM 105 ripped a first-kick [start] as my Rekluse clutch hooked up and pulled the rest of the pack. After being the first to the banners to get the holeshot, we got right onto a road that led into some rocky single-track. We then were put into some technical, tighter washes, and then onto a road. After the road, we were put into a tight wash with some decent, good-sized whoops that made it difficult. Then we were put into a fast, flowy wash.

Then we made our way back onto another trail that put us in more of a rocky wash. I was feeling good in this wash until…. I would go over the bars into a big splatter of cow pie. And sadly, it was a fresh one! At first, in my head, I thought I might have split open my water pack because of all the wet feel on my arm, but I kept smelling something raunchy and I looked over onto my shoulder and it was covered in cow poop. But it was the beginning of the race, so I just had to deal with it.
After that, I made minor mistakes the rest of the race and felt solid with it. I would start and finish the race in first place overall!
I want to give a big shout-out to Rekluse Motorsports for always getting me hooked up and for giving me a tour of their place! I also want to thank my mom and dad for taking me to all my races, and everybody else that helps me out: Blais Racing, Fasst Co., X Brand Goggles, Troy Lee Designs, FMF, IMS, Fastway, A’ME, Race Tech, and everybody that supports me as well.
