Nathan Jackson (7) went 1-1 to top the 50cc Open class at the A.V. Motoplex during round three of the M2X/ MotocrossGiant.com Dirt Series.

Cobra-mounted Nathan Jackson took a hard-fought two-moto sweep of the always competitive 50cc Open class at the A.V. Motoplex Ride Park during round three of the M2X Racing/MotocrossGiant.com Dirt Series.

When the gate dropped for first-moto action, it was Jackson squirting out to an early lead, ahead of Robbie Stephenson, Brayden Tharp, Carson Newton and Ethan Butts. Jackson put a couple of seconds on the rest of the field on the inaugural lap, but Stephenson and Tharp joined forces and soon closed to the leader’s rear wheel.

From this point on, it was an exciting three-rider battle over the top spot. Any mistake on Jackson’s part and he would have easily been overtaken by Stephenson or Tharp, they were that close.

Tharp managed to slip past Stephenson immediately after getting the white flag to pressure Jackson on the final circuit. Jackson hung tough to keep both Tharp and Stephenson at bay for the well-deserved first-moto victory. Fourth place belonged to Newton, ahead of Nathan Santos, Butts, and Robert Lundin.

Moto two turned into a two-rider showdown, as Jackson led the charge out front, with Stephenson running a close second, just waiting for Jackson to slip up somehow.

Jackson put in one seemingly flawless lap after another to go the distance and earn the first-place trophy on his 1-1 effort. Stephenson kept Jackson honest right up until the checkers waved for second overall via his 3-2 performance. Lundin put in a great ride to finish in third place to claim third overall, followed by Santos (5-4) and Butts (6-5).
