Hurd Motorsports, promoters of the world-class Broome-Tioga Sports Center facility, hosted the final round of their Winter Mud and Snow Scrambles Series. The series consisted of 10 rounds, running from November through April and utilizing the multiple motocross tracks, grass-track and single-track trails of this massive facility. This unique and challenging series continues to expand and has been attracting new racers.

Round 10 dawned under partly cloudy skies, and the forecast predicted a high temperature of 65 degrees.

Track conditions were a bit wet and muddy in the morning, but the racecourse dried out quickly, and some corners of the motocross section of the racecourse developed some big and nasty ruts. The Broome-Tioga track crew groomed the racecourse several times throughout the race program.

When the green flag dropped for the start of the Over 50 motorcycle scrambles, Steve Deemie, Tim Meyers and Jim Seaman led the pack out of the first turn and onto the racecourse. When the leaders had completed the opening lap, Deemie continued to lead and was now followed by Meyers, Seaman, Eric Nybeck and Dave Verdetto.

Meyers took over the lead on lap two, and he would remain out front for the rest of the scrambles. Deemie was relegated to second. Seamon, Nybeck and Verdetto rounded out the top five.

Those top five were all spread out by the end of the third lap, and the remainder of the scrambles was a snoozer. Meyers took the checkers and the win. Deemie, Seaman, Nybeck and Verdetto completed the top five.
