The last time they held motorcycle races at the Warren County Fairgrounds in Lebanon, Ohio, was nearly 50 years ago, on the pea-gravel Half Mile.

At this year’s edition, 17-year-old Jarod Vanderkooi of Ohio, racing for Don’s Kawasaki, DPC Racing and Woody Kyle Racing, won both his heat races in the Expert Singles and Expert Pro Twins class and went on to win both main events.

Zakk Palmer kept Vanderkooi honest in the Expert Singles outing, but it didn’t take long for Jarod to take the lead and, eventually, the win.

In the Amateur classes, it was Stevi Smith stealing the show with impressive wins in the 450cc class. This was her first race back after an injury last year, and she didn’t disappoint the Buckeye fans. She battled with Chaz Meiman in the heat race and then led the way in the main.

Stevi Smith (84), the younger sister of National flat-track racer Bryan Smith, scored the 450cc-class victory.
