GNCC, Round 8
Team UXC is back on top once again.
Team UXC/Polaris Factory Racing’s Michael Swift won the Pro 4×4 class at the famous John Penton GNCC. His teammate Don Higbee took his second win of the season in the Over 40 4×4 class.
Pro 4×4 teammates Swift and Kevin Trantham worked their way into position through lap one. Trantham suffered a drive-belt issue that pulled him out of the race. Meanwhile, Swift swapped positions a couple of times for second and worked hard to secure his spot. Then Swift took advantage of a line in the woods to make a clean pass for the lead.
After receiving the white flag, Swift utilized the superior handling of his Polaris Scrambler 850 EPS to place a buffer between himself and the second-place rider. It was important for Swift to secure this buffer before he entered the last mile of the race, which consisted of the motocross section. Swift was able to hold on to the lead through the checkered flag for his third Pro 4×4-class win of the 2015 GNCC season.
“The Polaris Scrambler 850 EPS handled great today with the combination of the Maxxis tires and custom Axis shocks,” stated Swift. “I am very proud to be able to give Polaris and all of our team sponsors another Pro 4×4 win.”
Team UXC rider Don Higbee battled hard all day on the 10 ½-mile track, swapping positions many times. After the two-hour race, Higbee claimed the top spot, taking his second Over 40 4×4-class win.
“I had a great run today,” Higbee said. “Everything fell into place, and the hard work I have put in is paying off. The win moves me into second place in the points chase, and I couldn’t be happier.”
Higbee’s teammate Nic Snyckers finished just off the podium with a fourth place in the 4×4 Novice class.
TORN, Round 1
Out west, Chris Robinson competed in the first round of the TORN Texas Off-Road Nationals Series. He finished with an impressive second place on the podium aboard his Polaris Scrambler 1000 EPS.
On the UTV side, Kevin Trantham raced the number-202 900S RZR, bringing it home in first place in the Open class, claiming his second win of the season and moving himself back into the points lead.
Michael Swift brought home a fifth-place finish in the XC2 Pro Sport class, pushing himself into second place in the points chase.
Marc Sparato and Josh Copeland went fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Polaris Ace during the UTV single-seat action.
