PERRIS, CA, JUNE 17, 2015

It’s coming up quick! Doubleheader rounds five and six will be here June 20 and21. On Saturday, the gates will open at noon, with practice starting at about 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, the gates will open at 8 a.m., with practice commencing at 10.

All the usual amenities will be available, but you can bring your own coolers. (No glass bottles please!)

Overnight parking will be available on Friday and Saturday nights for a small fee.

This is a perfect weekend for spectating! Saturday night should make for a balmy ride (or drive), with warm weather predicted for the weekend. Heats will start at about 4:30 or 5 p.m., but if you show up a little later, you can catch all of the main events. Still, some of the heat races are pretty exciting!

Don’t want to ride after dark? (Yeah, me neither sometimes.) Then come on out Sunday for another full program, starting at about 11 a.m. See the website for directions. There are lots of great roads for a Sunday ride, no matter where you’re coming from!

If you don’t already know, the Flat Track finale at Pomona has been canceled; the grandstands are scheduled to be torn down about race time. That means our usual Friday night race will probably be moved to that Saturday, which will make it easier on a lot of people. We’ll keep you posted.

This just in: The SCFTA now honors all AHRMA memberships for Vintage, Post-Vintage and Classic classes, just as it does our own; that means savings on your entry and points, maybe…?

Noise is a problem. Where before we had to go by ear, promoter Vince Graves will now be certified and trained to check sound levels, in accordance with AMA and other rules. If you think your bike is loud, it probably is! Get a muffler, or repack your current one, if you don’t want to get caught out and not be able to ride. It’s best if everyone gets to ride, but if the sound is a problem, no one may get to ride.

Best of luck to our regular riders who are heading to Castle Rock for Sideburn’s Dirt Quake! Like I told them, Castle Rock should be DirtCano; So Cal should host the Dirt Quake! Maybe the Gulf Coast can host a Dirticane…?
