Team ITP recorded seven class wins and 19 podium finishes at round six of the Mountain Dew ATV Motocross National Championship Series in Illinois. ITP Pro rider Jeffrey Rastrelli took fifth in the ATV Pro class, while Westley Wolfe and six others posted class victories at Sunset Ridge MX.’

“Despite the mud, it was a very nice weekend for our sponsored racers, including Pro-class racer Jeffrey Rastrelli, who got back in the top five after not being able to compete in the main races at the last round,” said Pat McGuire, in charge of public relations and race support for ITP Tires. “Seven Amateur-class wins and almost 20 podiums keeps sending the message that ITP is serious about traction and winning more National Championships.”

Round six of the 2015 Mountain Dew ATV MX National Championship Series, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, headed to the Midwest and Sunset Ridge MX, a 1.6-mile motocross track surrounded by farm fields. ITP racers had a good showing, securing 19 podiums, seven of which were class overall wins, in spite of sporadic downpours and muddy conditions on Saturday. Sunday’s action, including the Pro-Am class races, was canceled due to the poor weather.

ITP-backed Pro-class racer Jeffrey Rastrelli notched his fourth top-five finish of the season to gain some points in his chase for a top-five-overall finish this season. The JB Racing/ Can-Am/ ITP-backed Pro, who has one podium finish this year, sits just 13 points out of fifth place heading to round seven in Minnesota.

Westley Wolfe, who also competes for ITP in the Grand National Cross Country Series, earned two A-class victories in Illinois.

“Factory Sam” Rowe rode his Root River Racing/Rage ATV/ Pepsi-backed Honda outfitted with ITP tires to second in the Pro Sport (Pro-Am) contest.

Alex Gillette also had a good showing in Illinois. He earned his first overall win of the year in the 450cc B class and also finished second overall in the Production B class.

Megan Manshack recorded her fifth consecutive Women’s class win to expand her points lead.

Niamh Shaw, who competed in the Schoolgirl (13-17) class in Walnut, posted her second victory of the season aboard her Kawasaki dressed in ITP tires. Johanna Vossman joined Shaw on the Schoolgirl podium, taking third. The two racers are currently first and second, respectively, in the class standings.

Zimmerman Racing/ Makson/ FTR-backed Peyton Zimmerman expanded his points lead in the Youth All Star (13-15) class with another win on his number-721 Honda. He also scored a solid third-place finish in the Supermini (12-15) class aboard his number-721 Suzuki.

Brogan Guyer notched one class win, in the 90cc Shifter (12-15) class, and also earned third in the 90xx Open Senior (12-15) class.

Veteran racer Mike Barnhardt put his number-19 Root River Racing Honda on two podiums (including his first of the year) at round six. The Minnesota racer took second in both the Junior Over 25 and Vet Over 30 classes as a tune-up prior to racing in his home state at the next round.

Also tallying podium finishes for ITP in Illinois were Haedyn Mickelson, who placed second in the 450cc A class; Lucas Lamons, who placed third in the Junior Over 25 class; Brandon O’Neill, who was runner-up in the 90cc Open Senior (12-15) class and third in the 90cc Shifter (12-15) class; and Jordan Digby, who came in second in the 90cc Shifter (12-15) class.

Round seven of the Mountain Dew ATV MX National Championship Series will be held June 27 and 28 at Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota.
