Summer is here, racing is tight, and it’s time to get down to business as we head to round three of the Jake’s Garage AHRMA Southwest Regional Motocross Series this Sunday, July 19, at the Cahuilla Creek MX Park in Anza, California, hosted by the California Vintage Motocross Club.

Southern California’s Clark Jones (5Z) is leading the series points chase in the Sportsman 250cc Expert class.

Southern California’s Clark Jones (5Z) is leading the series points chase in the Sportsman 250cc Expert class.

For VMX Racing, over the first two rounds, some of the tightest battles have taken place in some of the top classes, including the Sportsman 250cc Expert class, in which Southern California’s Clark Jones is on top in the points chase. The Sportsman 500cc Intermediate class leads the way, with 11 participants competing for the series crown, while Patrick Leonard and Ricky Richardson are tied in the points with three rounds remaining. Northern California’s Tom McDaniel is dominating the Over 50 Intermediate class, but there are 10 other competitors hot on his tail!

What’s New for 2015?
Joint efforts between AHRMA’s Northwest and Southwest regions and AHRMA NW member Nicky Trevino’s stepping up to the plate to promote Post-Vintage Motocross is what’s new! PVMX competition is on the rise!

The most dominant class in the first two rounds this year has been the Over 50 Expert class, in which there is a tie between Eric Harvey and Steve Williams.

There is also a tie in the Historic Four-Stroke Expert class between Jeff Robertson and Shawn Culp. Shawn travels all the way from Scottsdale, Arizona, to compete.

Complete results and overall points standings can be found on the AHRMA Southwest website under the “Results & Points” tab.

Please remember that in order to participate in this series and in order to earn points, AHRMA membership is required. Membership information can be found at or at the track. To qualify for year-end awards, racers must participate in at least three out of the five rounds scheduled.
