“Jammin’ Joe” McGurer and Troy Camerer were triple-class winners at the Central Illinois Motorcycle Club’s nighttime hillclimb on Saturday, May 23, with McGurer repeating the feat during the Sunday portion of the weekend doubleheader.

McGurer’s wins came in the 250cc, 600cc and Open Stock classes on both days. Camerer claimed the wins in the 450cc, 400cc Stock and Quad Four-Stroke classes on Saturday night, and although he repeated his 400cc Stock and Quad-class wins on Sunday, he fell to third place in the 450cc class, behind Matt Peters and Cody Jenner.

Levi “Lightning” Peters was a double-class winner on both days, taking wins in the 125cc and 200cc classes.

Mike “Pulverizer” Pulver was a double winner on Saturday night, taking the Senior (Over 40) and Super Senior (Over 50) class wins. Pulver repeated his Super Senior win on Sunday but dropped to third in the Senior class, behind “Fast Andy” Fortner and Matt Peters.

McGurer’s class-winning 3.181-second time on his second run in the 600cc class appeared to be a cinch for the overall Fast Time Award, overtaking Camerer, who had posted a 3.241-second time to win the 450cc class. However, Pulver once again demonstrated that old isn’t always slow, as he flew his CR500 over the top in a blistering 3.140 seconds to take the Senior-class win, and also the Amateur Fast Time Award.

In Sunday’s action, it was much the same. This time, McGurer set the fast time at 3.367 seconds on his second ride on his KX500 to win the large and fast 600cc class, slipping under Cody Jenner and his 3.405-second class-winning time in the 600cc Four-Stroke class. However, once again, a veteran rider, Andy Fortner, blazed over the top in 3.360 seconds on his Kawasaki for the Senior-class win – and setting a new fast time. Pulver, however, still had a ride coming in the Super Senior class, and he delivered a stunning 3.348-second run to snatch the overall Fast Time Award from Fortner – his second in two days. The “old guys” put on a good show on both days!

In Youth-class action, Lilah McGurer took the 65cc class win on Saturday, followed by Maria Moran and Clayson Price. Mitch Moran claimed the win on Sunday, followed by McGurer and Jaydn Aliprandini.

Brodie Bennett was the 85cc Junior Mini-class winner on both days, followed by Lilah McGurer and Maria Moran on Saturday, and by McGurer and Mitch Moran on Sunday. Brodie’s 3.483-second time on Saturday night was good for the Youth Fast Time Award at that event.

“Little Fast Andy” Fortner ran unopposed in the 85cc Senior Mini class, and his 3.224-second time was good for the Youth Fast Time Award at Sunday’s event.

In Women’s class action, Lauren Shafer was the winner on Saturday night, with Shay Ashworth second and Shelby Shafer third. Shay was the winner on Sunday, followed by the Shafer sisters, Lauren and Shelby.
