PUYALLUP, WA, AUG. 6, 2015
Jethro Halbert of Puyallup, Washington – one of the very well-liked and admired riders on the GNC1 circuit of AMA Pro Flat Track racing – has passed away. He will be missed by many riders and fans alike in the days to come.
At the track, in the pits, Jethro always made time to help the youngsters, sign autographs and share his stories.
Riding as National number 69, his Pro racing career began in 2004. “Jet,” as he was known by many, suffered a serious brain injury following a crash during AMA GNC1 competition at the end of the 2014 series, and yesterday evening he moved on to that big track above.
Jethro leaves behind his son Caleb and his fiancée, Ashley Nunes; his parents, Willy and Shannon Halbert; his brothers Sammy, Zach and Andy Halbert; and the Nunes family and many friends.
The AMA Pro Flat Track Class of ’79 and Friends has set up a memorial fund for Jethro at www.amaft79.com/store/p89/Jethro_Halbert_Memorial_Fund.html for all who would care to donate.
Our deepest condolences are offered to his family and friends.
Godspeed, Jethro – number 69.
