Division One had two 16-year-olds leading the way, impressing everyone with their big track skills.

Kurtis Hamill was very fast and steady. He won two of the three heats, but a bad gate and an excursion into the infield cost him in the final, as Gage Geist won it, after also taking the win in the second heat. The 17-year-old Dryden Gayle was very much on the pace and placed second in the final.

The Vintage class had nine entries. Gage Geist was in a class of his own, adding the Vintage victory to his Division One win. There was much close racing in this division, including a race to the line in the main event for second, in which Dan Waller pipped Malcolm Roe.

Ron Davis won the Support-class main.

Sebastian Palmese won all four 250cc races, and his moves included a last-lap pass on Sara Cords in the second heat. Palmese looked very fast and comfortable on the big track.

Dakota Shockley won all four 150cc races, which were held on a smaller track in the infield, but the main event was the race of the night. After Shockley and Luke Whitcomb traded the lead multiple times, it was a photo finish, with Shockley getting the nod.

This was the final of five events held at Ventura this year. Four of the events ran combined with flat-track racing, with the AMA National Championship’s second round being the highlight. Given the steady growth and increased popularity of the other events, it is likely that Ventura will continue to grow for Speedway in 2016, which is good news, given the track’s similarity to European venues.
