The National Hare and Hound Series came to the District 37 area for round four, which was hosted by the awesome So Cal Motorcycle Club in the dry desert of Lucerne Valley, California. The race was a rigorous 100 miles, consisting of three loops, two of which were 41 miles! Conditions were dusty and dry, which is expected of the area, but the wind was not a worry over the course of the weekend and the weather was prime for National Hare and Hound racing!

Youth Classes
Early Saturday evening, Mason Matthies took the overall win in the Youth race – a great start to the weekend! Matthies caught the “hare” while holding a lead during the race with an average two-minute gap between himself and second-place rider Hagen Boyce. Bradley East followed not too far behind, coming in third overall!

Mason Matthies (365) was the overall victor of the Youth race.

As for the Girls’ class, the podium was once again topped by the Olivas twins, Laci and Brooke.

The Pee Wee 50cc class saw Brennen Watson’s first win of the season, while his best friend Jett Lessing placed first in the Micro Mini 65cc class! Both little guys have been following the WORCS Series for the past few weekends, racing courses that are not exactly of similar terrain as that in Lucerne Valley. Nonetheless, both boys killed it!

Big Bikes
The start of Sunday morning saw a bomb run packed with fierce competition, although JCR Honda rider Ricky Brabec held an untouchable lead throughout the race course! With Lucerne Valley being local territory for Brabec, it was nothing but easy for him to tear through the desert until he went down near the finish, sustaining a shoulder injury.

Ricky Brabec (1) injured his shoulder but soldiered on to score the overall victory at the fourth NHHA round.

Brabec remained in first, with Rockstar Energy Factory Husqvarna rider Jacob Argubright about two minutes behind in second. Argubright had an awesome race, battling back and forth with Nick Burson before bumping to second place.

Purvines DA8 Training rider Gary Sutherlin came in third. On the podium, he said that the second loop was by far the most challenging, even though each loop was fairly quick. Still nursing a shoulder injury from the previous weekend, Sutherlin did the best he could and is plugging away until round five of the NHHA Series in Jericho, Utah.
