Traveling buddies Austin Greenland and D.J. Slosser traded wins, with Greenland taking the Open A victory and Slosser winning the 450cc Sportsman A class, as Path Valley Speedway Park managed to get in its program after three inches of rain fell Friday evening. With the rain not clearing until early morning, many riders may have thought the promoters wouldn’t be able to get the track ready, which led to a low count on the entry list. While entries were on the low side, several classes were nevertheless very close.

Austin Greenland (32A) and Rick Winsett (11) finished first and second, respectively, in the Open A class at the Pennsylvania Short Track at Path Valley Speedway Park.

Greenland emerged first from a closely grouped Open A trio of leaders off turn four on the opening lap, with Rick Winsett and Slosser right behind him and Tyler Mullen and R.J. Hart a little further back. Over the next seven laps, Greenland and Winsett traded the lead several times, with Greenland holding on for the win off turn four.

Greenland and Slosser swapped the lead spot in the 450cc Sportsman A numerous times, with Slosser taking control going into turn one on the final lap.

The Open B contest also had a closely bunched group. Zach Mullen emerged with the lead as they started the second lap, closely pursued by Grant Shafer, Damon Ream and Ken Kolsovsky. The first half saw Mullen, Shafer and Ream running nose to tail, while in the late laps the front duo put a little distance on Ream. Just after he took the checkered flag, Mullen drifted a little high and ended up sliding to the wall; he was embarrassed, but unhurt.

Zach Mullen (29) and Grant Shafer (51) went one and two in the Open B class.
