Officially noted as the finale for all Youth classes, Saturday will be extremely exciting, as racers take to the bomb line to give one last effort for the championship!

A fresh desert awaits the Pee Wees in race one, as they will be treated to a 2-mile, 30-minute race.

Next, the banner will drop for the Micro Mini, Junior Girls and Girls classes.

That will be followed by race three, with the Big Wheel, Mini and Junior Mini classes. That will conclude the day’s racing.

Not only will all Youth racers pit and run through the main pit area, but AMA off-road racing manager Erek Kudla and the event’s grand marshal, Ty Davis, will be on site to award year-end trophies and goodies!

A special podium ceremony is reserved for all Youth following race three. All Youth racers contending for a championship, please note that two race drops will be allowed, and that to be eligible for a championship, you must have completed three races.

On Sunday morning, the nation’s toughest and fastest desert racers will line up on the Zip-Ty starting line to tackle three loops: one 43-mile loop, then a 40-mile loop, and a 21-mile loop to the finish. Purvines Yamaha DA8’s very own Gary Sutherlin currently holds a sizable lead in the points chase, but as this season has proved, the competition is fierce and unpredictable! Tune in to our Facebook page to watch the action live (service permitting). Spectators can gather at the KTM finish line to watch the riders take the checkered flag.

The NHHA is proud to continue its partnership with Fasst Co. for the Youth Hound Development Award, which is meant to help groom the “hounds” of tomorrow by rewarding the first rider to catch the “hare” of each Youth race with a prize and offered contract of 50 percent off with Fasst Co. A Pro rider will be the featured hare, and you can catch all the action on Saturday starting with race one, the Pee Wee race, at 10 a.m.!

The 2017 AMA Kenda/ SRT National Hare and Hound Youth Championship will conclude in Lucerne Valley, California, on October 21. Youth racing will take place on Saturday morning and afternoon, followed by an awards ceremony with AMA off-road racing manager Erek Kudla, who will be handing out AMA year-end trophies. Event grand marshal and desert-racing legend Ty Davis will join Kudla during the Youth ceremony in giving out the goodies and prizes.

To help our racers and families better understand this situation, it was undoubtedly tough to learn that, based on current BLM permit requirements in this particular region, hosting an event on Saturday would not possible. The entire NHHA organization sincerely apologizes for any frustration or inconveniences this poses. We hope that you will come out to join us for a fun weekend of riding and spectating at the finale to watch today’s fastest off-road racers take on their final event of the season.
